VALVES
We all know that cylinders require an annual hydrostatic test but did you know that the valves are not a part of that process? For your safety and the safety of others It’s just as important to make sure your cylinder valve is getting the same love and attention that the rest of your cylinder is getting. We recommend that your cylinder valves are serviced at least every two years. However, if you dive frequently (approx. 100 dives per year or more), you may want to have your cylinder valve serviced every 12 months instead. When you bring your valve to Safety Stop we will disassemble it and clean each part using our state of the art ultrasonic cleaner. All o’rings and teflon parts will be replaced as required and the burst disc’s integrity will be tested..
CYLINDERS
Australian standards require all scuba cylinders to be visually inspected and hydrostatically tested annually. If your cylinder is out of test it will not be filled by scuba shops. Additionally your cylinder may periodically require brushing, rumbling, etc. We can make sure this happens! When you leave your cylinder with us we will make sure it is tested and refilled for you upon return within a week so you don’t miss out on any underwater time!
IMPORTANT NOTICE – In order to comply with current safety regulations, we will not hydrostatically test any aluminium cylinders that were manufactured in 1992 or previous. Additionally, any cylinder manufactured from aluminium alloy 6351–T6 is susceptible to SLC and therefore considered to be at-risk cylinders and will also not be tested.
