Safety checks are something that should be completed, at minimum, on a yearly basis. When your regulator set comes in to us for its annual safety check, we run multiple tests as recommended by the manufacture to confirm your gear is working well. We are also checking that all required air pressures and cracking efforts are correct in accordance with your manufactures recommendations.
Checks that we include are:
- We check all regulator hoses for separating of hoses swages, hoses perishing, kinking, collapsed inner core, cuts or gashes in them.
- Â With your mouthpieces we check for holes, perishing and that mouthpiece lugs aren’t torn or chewed off.
- Â We check your 2nd stage regulators purge buttons for signs of disintegration from UV destabilisation.
- Â We check your 2nd stages for cracks in the body.
- Â We check that all adjustment knobs and levers are fully functional
- Â We check your 2nd stages have no rattling levers.
- Â We check your 2nd stage diaphragms for holes and elasticity.
- Â We power it all up and check the 1st stage IP (intermediate pressure)
- Â We check 2nd stage cracking effort (ease of breathing) and make sure its not free flowing or leaking air.
- Â We check your SPG is accurate against our master gauge.
At the completion of your safety check, if it passes all testing, you will be issued a safety certificate confirming the overall working condition and performance of your Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus (SCUBA regulator set). Alternatively, if it needs attention, you will be advised of what work is required in order to bring your regulator back into manufacture specifications and any associated costs and time frame. Due to not being able to view you gear for internal damage and upgrades any quoted prices on your gear are an estimation ONLY and subject to change if further issues are found during the servicing of your beloved dive gear.
